Kids need dental care just as adults do. Our team at Millennium Smiles provides quality dental care for our young patients in Frisco, TX, and we take pride in maintaining healthy smiles from childhood to adulthood.
It is recommended that children make their first dental visit within six months of losing their first tooth or by the time they turn one year old, whichever comes first. Millennium Smiles is proud to provide dental care for your children in their various stages of oral development, as their first teeth erupt, as they lose their baby teeth, and learn to maintain their permanent teeth. Our kids’ dentistry includes:
We provide analgesics such as nitrous to calm the patient, along with our compassionate doctor and team. We treat kids six months and older.
Normally, baby teeth start coming in at about six months of age. They will continue to come in until around age six or seven, when they will start getting replaced by permanent teeth. Most of the permanent teeth (usually 28 teeth) will come in by the time a child is 13 years old. The last set of permanent teeth, the third molars or “wisdom teeth,” come in between the ages of 17 and 21. However, these are usually extracted, and not all adults get them.
It is important to establish healthy oral hygiene habits at an early age to help maintain good oral health as a child grows up. Baby’s gums can be cleaned regularly using a damp cloth. Children’s brushing should be supervised until you are confident that they can safely do it by themselves. Flossing should also be taking place daily. Regular dentist visits are important to get children’s teeth cleaned and examined to check for dental issues such as cavities.
