Same-Day Crowns vs. Traditional Crowns

Same-Day Crowns vs. Traditional Crowns

Feb 03, 2018

Getting a crown used to require several trips to the dentist, but that’s no longer the case with same-day crowns.

At Millennium Smiles, we recognize your time is valuable. Dr. Dunia Korous utilizes advanced CEREC technology to offer patients the convenience of same-day dentistry at her Frisco, Texas office.

How do same-day crowns work?

Your visit will begin with digital impression of your mouth that will be used to design and create a custom fit and color-matched crown.

Our in-house CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) equipment will fabricate your dental crown while you wait. Dr. Korous will carefully remove a minimal amount of your tooth structure for attaching the crown and then permanently secure your restoration.

What are the differences between same-day and traditional crowns?

Traditional Crowns

  • Require multiple trips to the dentist
  • Impressions are sent off to a dental lab where the crown is made
  • Temporary crown needed while the permanent crown is made

Same-Day Crowns

  • Only require one visit to our office
  • Crown is made at the dentist office
  • Eliminates need for temporary crown

What are the benefits of same-day crowns?

Same-day crowns save you time and could save you money. Since they don’t require a temporary crown or being sent off to a lab, they can be cheaper than traditional crowns. Most insurance companies cover both same-day and traditional crowns.

Another advantage of our superior technology is that same-day crowns are a more comfortable procedure. Same-day crowns utilize digital technology to make an impression of your mouth instead of the uncomfortable and terrible-tasting traditional putty impressions.

Same-day crowns made with CEREC technology are as strong, efficient, and beautiful as a lab-created crown. For more information about your dental options, call Millennium Smile’s Frisco dental office today at 972-987-4899.
